Common questions

Do you have a shop I can drop my car off at?

No. We're fully mobile and come to your location.

Do you do regular car repair, or only small jobs?

We do the car repair jobs that can be done where the car is parked: brakes, batteries, starters, alternators, diagnostics, cooling, timing belts, and more. Jobs that need a lift, like transmissions or alignments, are better at an auto repair shop, and we'll tell you that up front.

Are you really open 24/7?

Yes. We answer calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Late-night arrival times depend on where you are, and we'll give you a real time on the phone. Night and holiday visits carry an added fee listed on our pricing page.

How fast can you get here?

It depends on where you are and how many calls are ahead of you. We give you a real time on the phone instead of a promise we can't keep.

What forms of payment do you take?

Cash, Visa, Mastercard (credit or debit), Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal. We don't accept checks. You pay after the repair is done and tested.

Do you warranty your work?

Yes. Our coverage is listed on the pricing page, and parts also carry the manufacturer's warranty.

Can you work on any car?

Most cars, trucks, and SUVs for the repairs we list. Some vehicles put parts in places that need a lift. We'll tell you on the phone.

How do I know it's the battery and not the starter?

Rapid clicking with dim lights usually points to the battery. One loud click with bright lights points more toward the starter or its wiring. Our no-start guide walks through it.

Can a starter be replaced in my driveway?

On most cars and trucks, yes. A few designs bury the starter deep in the engine. Give us your year, make, and model and we'll tell you.

Can I just jump it and keep driving?

With a failed alternator the car will die again once the battery drains, sometimes within minutes. It's safer to get it tested first.

Do I need new rotors every time?

Not always. If the rotors are above minimum thickness and not warped, they may be reusable. We'll show you the measurement.

Is a flashing check engine light worse than a solid one?

Yes. A flashing light usually means a severe misfire that can overheat and damage the catalytic converter. Reduce speed, avoid hard acceleration, and get it checked right away.

Do I need an alignment after suspension work?

After tie rods, struts, or control arms, usually yes. After sway bar links, usually no.

How do I know if my car has a timing belt or a chain?

Your owner's manual or maintenance schedule will say. Or give us the year, make, model, and engine and we'll tell you on the phone.

Can I keep driving if it's overheating?

No. Pull over when it's safe, turn off the A/C, and shut the engine off if the gauge is in the red. Driving hot can warp the cylinder head.

Is a valve cover leak dangerous?

Oil dripping on a hot exhaust manifold can smoke and, in rare cases, catch fire. It's worth fixing before it gets worse.

Should I replace all the coils or just one?

Usually just the failed one. If the coils are original and high-mileage, we'll give you both prices so you can choose.

How often should I change my oil?

Follow the interval in your owner's manual or your car's oil life monitor. Many modern cars on synthetic oil go 5,000 to 10,000 miles.

Can you meet me at the seller's house?

Yes, anywhere in our service area. Let the seller know a mechanic is coming.

Stuck somewhere, day or night?

Call now. We'll tell you if it's a driveway fix before we roll.
